The Woodville Rugby Union Football Club, known as “The Wasps”, was founded in 1933 and celebrated its 85th Anniversary in 2018. It is one of the oldest established Rugby Union Clubs in South Australia, with a proud and successful history. Our mission is “To continue in developing the club through its juniors and seniors by providing opportunities and skills to enjoy the game of rugby. We strive to foster and create a club atmosphere where all are welcome by promoting high ethical standards both on and off the field.”
The Wasps takes great pride in being a family club and maintaining an atmosphere where players, partners, children and spectators can enjoy the excellent club facilities in a friendly and safe environment. All visitors and new members can be assured of a warm and genuine welcome at Woodville and new playing members will find camaraderie, friendship and a strong supportive bond from their team-mates.

Woodville is currently fielding three adult sides – one in South Australia’s Premiership Division, one in the Premier Reserve Division and one in the Women’s Division. The club has been in the Premiership Division since 1936 and has always produced a strong showing both on and off the pitch. They have many first division trophies to their name. Woodville prides itself on being a multi-cultural club, with current players and members hailing from our own shores to New Zealand, British Isles, Pacific Islands and South Africa. This club has always been a stepping stone for players to further their rugby playing careers, with many past and current players representing South Australia and even playing for the Wallabies.

Players seeking to relocate from interstate and overseas can, if needed, obtain advice and direction in finding accommodation and employment in Adelaide.

In 1996, Woodville RUFC combined with the Port Adelaide RUFC to form the very successful Western Vikings Junior Rugby Club. In 2012, Vikings and Woodville parted ways, and Woodville again fielded their first junior side in 2013.  Since then, the juniors have grown year on year, and currently have teams in the Under 6/7’s, Under 8’s, Under 10’s, Under 12’s, Under 14’s, and looking to grow to the Under 18’s in 2020.

Come along and be active in a sport that is played in over 140 countries. As a family-oriented club, and a club that has won many awards for best Rugby ground and facilities in South Australia, we are always interested in welcoming new players of all abilities at both junior and senior levels.

Playing Membership 
Senior Mens/ Womens

Season – $350 (to be paid in lump sum before the first game)

Monthly – $140 (to be paid prior to taking the field)

Weekly – $48 (to be paid prior to taking the field)

Training Participants Only – $20 – insurance for Preseason Training, the fee coming off “season” registrations.
